‘Nagarkirtan’ earned him national award. His flawless performance as a
transgender received accolades and when
Riddhi Sen says playing a transgender in the Kushik Ganguly directorial has been a life-changing experience for him, it’s no doubt a humble gesture from the young actor. He is overwhelmed to see the response after ‘Nagarkirtan’ was screened at the Indian Panorama of IFFI Goa.
To accept such a role as a young actor is surely a brave decision and Riddhi says he played the role of a transgender Parimal aka Puti as a complete woman instead of an unfinished woman.
"Cinema can change at least 1% of the society. I hope ‘Nagarkirtan’ can plunge into the darkness and help those people who are not accepted by society and by themselves. The transformation process from a man to a transgender individual is not an easy thing to go through. The hardest thing was to showcase the physicality of a woman and maintain a fine line. I am grateful to
Kaushik Ganguly for giving me this role. It has been a life-changing experience for me,” said Riddhi.
While Riddhi essayed the role of a transgender
Ritwick Chakraborty plays a flute performer from Nabadwip in the film which is slated to release in January next year.
