“Most of the times we see victims hiding instead of exposing the culprits. They unconsciously shield them fearing the social stigma. But in our film, in the end, the victims return to normal life against all odds and it spreads a positive message, a ray of hope. Also, these days, women can be seen in every field of work taking equal responsibility and slowly all the gender-specific work titles are vanishing,” said the director while speaking about ‘Shlilatahanir Pore’s main concept.

Based on a novel by Mallika Sengupta, the cast of this socially relevant film includes Rahul Banerjee, Moubani Sorcar, Devlina Kumar and

Ishhaan S Mazumder

among others. Rahul will be seen as Sanglap, a research scholar in English literature and also a lead singer in a band. Moubani who plays Rahul’s wife Subechha in the film said: “The story is quite exemplary and a lot of experienced actors are acting in the film. It is a pleasure to work with them. It’s also a great projection of the novel and the film deals with a very topical issue.”

Meanwhile, Devlina says women empowerment can only be fully celebrated when women can roam around freely at night in any part of the world without any fear.
