Dev’s much-anticipated ‘Tonic’ finally locks its release date. The film which was supposed to release during
Durga Puja had to postpone the release due to the pandemic. Now, it will release on December 24.
Starring Dev and
Paran Bandopadhyay in the lead and directed by
Avijit Sen, ‘Tonic’ promises to deliver sublime humor with a social message on a strong note. The family drama also stars
Shakuntala Barua,
Sujan Mukherjee,
Koneenica Banerjee, Biswanath Basu among others in pivotal roles.
“It’s a story of a retired person who faced many ups and downs in life to fulfill his dream to celebrate his special day in a special way. How he succeeds to do so is the crux of the story,” the director had earlier shared while speaking about the film’s subject.
Paran Bandopadhyay who plays the elderly person in the film had said in an interview that ‘Tonic’ revolves around a possessive son and his father. “It shows how a son’s over-possessiveness affects their relationship. The problem becomes severe when the son celebrates his parents’ 50th anniversary in a low-key way but makes sure his own anniversary is celebrated in a grand way. Dev’s character comes in between the father-son relationship and we see how he tries to make things better,” revealed the veteran actor adding that he’s super impressed with Dev’s performance in the film, especially the way he shreds off his superstar image to play an average guy.
