So, how was his Bijoya this year? “It was lovely. We spent time having a good bout of adda. I ate a lot, and obviously, she did not. Going to her place is like going to the nursery school once again. I worked with her in 2009-10,” Ranjan said.
It is always special for Ranjan to be able to spend time with her. Talking about his mentor, Ranjan added, “Besides filmmaking and nitty-gritty of cinema, Rinadi has also influenced me otherwise. I evolved as a person. My worldview changed. That way, she is really my guru.”
Ranjan’s last work, Ahaa Re, which features Rituparna Sengupta in the lead, garnered much accolades from different quarters. It was recently selected at the Singapore South Asian International Film Festival. Recently, Ahaa Re was screened in front of a packed auditorium at the Banga Sanskriti Bhawan, Muktadhara auditorium. The event was hosted by Bengal Association, New Delhi, at Bangla Cine Utsav, 2019.
