Ram Kamal Mukherjee's upcoming film
Binodiini Ekti Natir Upakhyan, starring Rukmini Maitra in the titular role, released its much-anticipated song
Hari Mon Mojaye
on January 19. The song explores a significant moment in the life of Nati Binodini, focusing on her performance as Chaitanya Mahaprabhu on stage. During one such performance, Binodini was brutally attacked and severely injured. It was on the arrival of Ramakrishna Paramhansa, that she chose to continue the performance, highlighting the spiritual leader's influence on her.
The song also captures the emotional turmoil Binodini endured, being a renowned actress who faced multiple challenges in a male-dominated theatre world of the late 19th century. Describing the song, Rukmini says, “Ram had a vision for each song in his head. He wanted this song to look like a painting on-screen, and told me, 'You've lived her life, and this is when you touch the light.' All I did was follow the path that my Ram showed his Binodini, just as the real-life Binodini was by Ramakrishna Dev.”
The sequence, as seen in the music video, adds depth to the film. Reflecting on the song, Ram Kamal says, “We decided to make this film in 2019 after coming across Binodini's Chaitanya Mahaprabhu look in
Chaitanyaleela. When we were shooting this song, I could clearly see the transformation in Rukmini's eyes from the monitor view itself. Dev, who generally avoids visiting sets, walked in quietly, and told me I've found my Chaitanya"
