Director
Raja Chanda is unwell and will undergo coronary artery bypass surgery at a city hospital tomorrow. The director was shifted to the general bed from ICU on Sunday afternoon. Speaking to
Calcutta Times
from the hospital, his wife actress
Paean Sarkar informed, “On March 5, around 6 am, Raja, woke up with discomfort and chest pain. The night before too he was not feeling well but we thought it must be because of work pressure. But, on Saturday, when
Raja woke up with chest pain, I immediately took him to the hospital, and then the doctor said he already suffered a mild heart attack something, he didn’t even realise. After a series of medical tests, the doctor has decided that Raja will be operated on Wednesday as he has a heart blockage.” She added, “Raja is extremely fit as a person and maintains a healthy lifestyle. He hits the gym every day and I really don’t know how this happened to him. In fact, he was shooting for three back-to-back films for the past few months. He took part in a cricket tournament too! Raja was supposed to shoot for a song-and-dance sequence for
Haar Mana Haar
on Sunday. In his absence, the choreographer conducted the shoot.”
