Chandrabindoo is busy singing a different tune. As Tollyvilles IT couple Rahul-Priyanka ties the knot this November, joining in the celebrations is the popular Bangla band from the city. No, preparing a wedding song isnt on the anvil. Theres work and a lot of it on the cards, literally so. The assignment of designing the couples wedding card has come to Chandrabindoo and the band, with an illustrious past, has got busy putting ideas together for that perfect illustration! Talking about how this offer came their way, vocalist Upal Sengupta explains: Rahul, a big Chandrabindoo fan, was always keen that I design the wedding card.
He said neither he nor Priyanka would get involved in the creative decision. Upal also elaborates that Rahul is a common presence in every special show that the band organises and knows by heart lyrics of every Chandrabindoo song. Incidentally, CT had spotted the couple at a Chandrabindoo show, after which Rahul admitted to dating Priyanka.
Rahul, on his part, admits to Chandrabindoo being an integral part of his life. I had proposed to Priyanka having sung Chandrabindoos Eita tomar gaan. When Priyanks is angry, I sing Chandrabindoo songs to pacify her. When we are happy, we sing the bands songs. I wanted Chandrabindoo to be there when I begin my new life. Upalda is designing the card, Anindyada is writing a poem and Chandrilda is involved in the overall preparations, says Rahul. Upal, who is currently busy brainstorming, says he is confused about green-lighting one version of the cards that he has designed. Im making different versions of the card. Though the card with two owls sitting on a branch of a tree is close to my heart, Im not too sure whether we can use it finally, says Upal. Prod Upal on this and the singer says its because the poem that Anindya (Chattopadhyay) has written is on parrots and the band members arent sure whether to go ahead with an owl visual with a poem on parrots! But yes, we are toying with other ideas. We can even have different sets of wedding cards with different visuals. That way, guests will be curious about which version they have received, wisecracks Upal. Meanwhile, wedding preparations are on in full swing. While November 18 is the big way for the duo, November 21 happens to be the reception. We have already booked a reception hall in Golf Green. So far, we have 850 invitees on the guest list, but its increasing by the day, says Rahul. Ask him whether sending out cards to Raj Chakrabarty and a certain production house, with whom Rahul is known to share a not-socomfortable relationship, is in the offing and the actor puts speculations to rest: Ill definitely be inviting them as Im here today only because of them. The rest is up to them to decide. The menu for the reception will comprise both Mughlai and Chinese, but cocktails are a strict no-no. I belong to a middle-class family, where having cocktails on an auspicious occasion is still a taboo, says the actor. Talking about the couples sartorial designs, Rahul explains, Priyanka is on a shopping spree. The break from which has come in the form of Partha Sarathi Joardars next the shooting of which has taken her to North Bengal. As far as I know, Priyanka is going to try out a different look for the reception, but shes all set to wear a traditional red Benarasi on the wedding day. I, on the other hand, have settled for Dhuti-panjabi on the D-Day. What Im going to wear on the reception is still undecided. Post-wedding, the duos leaving for Lakshadweep. There too, they are sure to have Chandrabindoo songs for company.
