Q's 'Garbage' only Indian film to be screened at Berlinale this year

Garbage, directed by Qaushiq Mukherjee — known as Q — will be the only Indian movie at the

Panorama

section of the 68th Berlin International Film Festival next month. The

Berlinale

is one of Berlin's most glamourous event. With more than 400 films shown it attracts the elite of the film industry as well as the largest audience of any film festival in the world. Interestingly, Q's

Garbage

has been co-produced by Simran director Hansal Mehta.
The film, which narrates the story of a young woman who is subjected to male violence, will have its world premiere in the festival’s Panorama section.

The 86th Berlin International Film Festival will be held from Feburary 18 to 25, with German filmmaker Tom Tykwer presiding over the jury. The panorama section comprises 47 films from 40 countries. Q, whose 'Gandu' also made it to Berlinale seven years back in 2011, said in a statement, "I see Garbage as a strong metaphor for human existence."
The film will have its world premiere on February 17.
