Priyanka Sarkar is on cloud nine with wishes pouring for her brilliant portrayal of a single mother in
Birsa Dasgupta’s recently released ‘Crisscross’. Now, the Bengali actress has added another feather to her crown. She has been honoured with the Best Actress Award at the 2018 Lake City International Film Festival (LCIFF) for her excellent performance in Arnab K Middya’s ‘Andarkahini’.
Rituparna Sengupta has also won the Best Actress Award for ‘Colours Of Life’.
Priyanka had earlier won the Best Actress Award for ‘Andarkahini’ in
Hyderabad Bengali Film Festival
and
Dadasaheb Phalke Film Festival also.
‘Andarkahini’ sees four different women and their troubled relationship with their brother, father, friend and husband. Interestingly Priyanka is playing all the four women. Each story focuses on the daily challenges these women face to save their respective relationships. Apart from Priyanka in the lead, 'Andarkahini' has Rajesh Sharma, Saayoni Ghosh, Soumitra Chatterjee, Anindya Chatterjee, and Nitya Ganguly in other important roles.
Meanwhile, Rituparna’s ‘Colours of Life’, directed by Prakash Bharadwaj, revolves around a single working mother Chandrima and her daughter Esha. After tragic demise of Chandrima’s father, they had none but each other. Chandrima, being an independent woman, raised her daughter successfully all by herself. The absence of a ‘male parent’ never had an ill-effect in their bonding.
