Prosenjit Chatterjee has really mastered the art of changing his looks in each of his movies. For instance, in recently released ‘Drishtikone’, he was seen wearing special contact lenses to make his character Jiyan look more realistic. His completely changed avatar in upcoming ‘Kishore Kumar Junior’ will give the Bengali movie buffs a vibe of 90s' fashion. Now, his look in ‘Mahalaya’ has come out and once again he looks almost unrecognizable.
In this upcoming period drama, he will essay the role of a non-Bengali official with a conservative mindset.
Director Soumik Sen’s next ‘Mahalaya’ is based on Bengal's famous Durga Puja tradition. The period drama has been in the news ever since the film was announced. The plot of this movie is all about the controversial change in 1976 that Mahalaya on the radio went through as Bengal’s matinee idol Uttam Kumar replaced legendary Birendra Krishna Bhadra.
Jisshu Sengupta will portray Uttam Kumar on the celluloid, while Subhamoy Chatterjee will play
Pankaj Mullick and Subhashish Mukherjee to be seen as Birendra Krishna Bhadra. If all goes according to plan, ‘Mahalaya’ will release by the end of this year or January 2019.
