’ bagged two awards each in different categories at the 67th National Film Awards. What a way to start the week!
While ‘Gumnaami’ won the Best Bengali Feature Film and Best Screenplay (Adapted) categories, ‘Jyeshthoputro’ bagged awards for Best Screenplay (Original) and Best Background Music (Prabuddha Banerjee). Awards are nothing new to the
Tollywood
superstar but who doesn’t love recognition, especially when it comes for those for which you have delivered some of your best performances. A delighted Prosenjit shares: “A recognition like the
National Film Award
is truly special. Congratualtions to team Gumnaami and Jyeshthoputro has also brought some more moments of sheer happiness with its National Awards. Congratulations to our entire team.”
Gumnaami saw
Prosenjit Chatterjee deliver what would be one of his most challenging performances on-screen - as both
Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and also the mysterious
Gumnaami Baba. Speaking about his association with the critically acclaimed film, the celebrated actor adds: “It is history. I am honoured and grateful to have been a part of that history.”
In ‘Jyeshthoputro’, too, Prosenjit is so comfortable playing the superstar part that you only notice his work in scenes that require him to shed the tag and become the elder son.
It’s surely a memorable day for Tollywood, especially when the low footfall in theatres is threatening the entertainment industry and film business in
