The current Bengali film industry suffers from lack of professional writers who can deliver hard-hitting film scripts. That’s what concerns
Prosenjit Chatterjee. In Mumbai, people send scripts to many forums which are scrutinized by world famous scriptwriters and the newbie hone up skills by participating in this process.
Prosenjit also thinks a director can’t write the script of his own film always.
"We lack good film scriptwriters. People like Anjan Chowdhury who could develop scripts of pure entertainers are quite difficult to find now. "There are obviously some exceptions like Padmanabha Dasgupta. But how many scripts can one single
Padmanabha Dasgupta churn out! He also has his limitations," the celebrated actor said during a recent media interaction.
The Bengali superstar also states he is being flooded with so many scripts on
Twitter and
Facebook every day but they eventually fails to make the cut. He thinks 70-80 percent of the Bengali entertainment industry is now driven by television.
But as the screen is being shifted gradually from TV to digital platform, scriptwriters are facing a new set of challenges as the audience has also evolved with the change in medium.
