Prasun Chatterjee's critically acclaimed film 'Dostojee' has now made it to the 17th Busan International Kids & Youth Film Festival, which is the largest children's film festival in Asia. The Bengali drama about two young friends earlier had a special screening at the prestigious 45th Göteborg Film Festival in Sweden.

It also received six nominations in the Malaysia Golden Global Awards 2022 recently in the Best Film, Best Cinematography, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Screenplay and Best Director categories. Previously Prasun's film bagged the Best Film Award at the 24th UK Asian Film Festival in the International Competition segment.

'Dostojee' is yet to be released in theatres, and the film is expected to bag more awards before it reaches the Indian audience.

The slice-of-a-life drama, starring child artists Asik Shaikh and Arif Shaikh alongside Jayati Chakraborty and Swatilekha Kundu, captures the innocent friendship of two boys in a remote border village in West Bengal, separated from Bangladesh by river Padma. The thick-as-thieves friendship of the eight-year-olds Palash (Asif Shaikh) and Safikui (Arif Shaikh] transcends the barriers built by religion and society. This remote village, however, isn't untouched by echoes of Babri Masjid demolition and the following '92-99 Bombay blasts. In a tragic turn of events, the two friends are parted. But do friendships end when friends leave? How do they face their first farewell? That’s what forms the crux of the film.
