Pratik Das directed musical short ‘Chaander Haashi Baandh Bhengeche’ pays tribute to Rabindranath Tagore's iconic works.
Some relationships don't bear a tag like the rest. There are feelings entwining two people and in fact, so intricate that they can't be described in a word, but a paragraph. So is the relationship between Sayan and Reshmi. The latter is a prostitute from a higher background.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, one night she gets a call from an unknown client who's revealed as Sayan later on. She comes at his place and the client assures that he sanitised himself and his belongings from his home itself. When proposed for a drink, she asks for coffee and both sit and listen to a song, "Chander Haashi Baandh Bhengeche", one of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore's love anthems. And then a moment blossoms!
Maybe, Love isn't the only thing that's important in a relationship. It's also about the words that are better left unsaid, yet, felt and the suddenness that reflects on the transparency of conversation between two people in Love. Being professional is okay. Yet, with emotions, the scales are never balanced. For Sayan and Reshmi, the former paid not for something that the latter intended to be paid for, but for the evening that was spent well.
Released on Just Studio Originals YouTube channel, the short film has managed a decent response since August 7. While the song has been rendered by Smarto Majumder,
Prantik Banerjee and
Sayantani Guhathakurta are playing the leads. Produced and conceptualized by Suchandraa Vaaniya, the work, camera and other arrangements were done by Prantik Ghosh, Sourav Mandal and Biplab Chakraborty.
