Prajna Dutta
, Kolkata’s one of the most promising musicians and also an interdisciplinary artist, is all geared up for his second documentary with
Films Division India
.
Titled ‘Kathi: Sharp Edges and Beyond’, the docu film traces conversations and practices related to the ancient way of the knife,
Kathivarisai
. Produced by
Films Division
India and mentored by national award-winning editor, filmmaker and educator Shyamal Karmakar, the film is in its last stage of post production. This is Prajna’s second documentary for Films Division, the first one being the multiple award-winning documentary ‘Sound Wanderer’ based on the music of his guitar guru
Amyt Datta
and mentored by ace filmmaker Supriyo Sen.
Giving a peek into the documentary’s main concept, Prajna shared: “In order to make this film in a better way I studied kathivarisai and understood the intricacies of the knife in a better way and related it to the other formats of martial arts that I teach, like Kali. According to me, the edge is a weapon of peace and the mindset of the warrior has the ability to convert any tool into a weapon for upholding one's freedom and dignity. I am super excited about this documentary and hope to continue practicing this art form and work for the presentation of this tradition.”
Meanwhile, apart from his documentary, Prajna recently released his latest single ‘Jegechi Anek Raat’ and the song has been lapped by music lovers.
