Photo: Abir Chatterjee looks strikingly different in these two stills from ‘Bidaay Byomkesh’

This year we will get to see Byomkesh in a whole new avatar- an octogenarian sleuth in Debaloy Bhattacharya’s upcoming spin-off ‘Bidaay Byomkesh’. Abir Chatterjee dons two different looks in the film; an aging, bald Byomkesh and his young grandson Satyaki.

While fans are quite surprised to see Abir’s aging bald look, the actor himself recently took to Twitter to share a new set of pictures from the film.

‘Bidaay Byomkesh’ focuses on the famous sleuth’s personal journey through his past investigations. In the upcoming spin-off, Abir also essays out Satyaki Bose, the grandson of Byomkesh. Debaloy has originally introduced Satyaki’s character and it has no link to Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay's literary works.
Many believe this film doesn’t mark the end of Byomkesh saga as young Satyaki marks a new beginning which continues his grandfather’s legacy. Still, the upcoming thriller’s narrative remains at the crux of the mystery.
Apart from Abir in the titular role, the Byomkesh spin-off also stars Sohini Sarkar, Joy Sengupta, Bidipta Chakraborty, Rahul Banerjee, Sujoy Prosad Chatterjee and Arindam Sil in pivotal roles.
