Phoring director set to adapt Kakababu's adventure!

Last winter saw Feluda vs Byomkesh. This Christmas, you might get to see another superfight ��� Kakababu vs Kakababu. We have news that director Indranil Roychowdhury , who won awards and accolades for Phoring, is all set to direct Chiranjeet Chakraborty as the swashbuckling adventurer in an adaptation of the Sunil Ganguly story, Jongolgarer Chabi. The villain will be played by none other than Anjan Dutt.
Work on Indranil's project is starting even as Srijit Mukherji gears up to begin shooting his Kakababu film based on Pahar Churaye Atonko from May. There is a high chance that the two films will release on the same day this winter.While Srijit delivered a hit with Mishawr Rawhoshyo, his first Kakababu film with Prosenjit in the lead, his next project, Chotushkone, brought a reclusive Chiranjeet roaring back on the Bangla screen. His performance was applauded by the audience and critics alike. ���I am happy that Kobi (Indranil) is directing the film. Though I haven't watched Phoring, I want to catch it soon. I know he is a talented director. Sohini Sarkar (the lead actress of Phoring), with whom I've shared the screen in Monihara and Shararipu, speaks highly of him," said the actor.
We ask him if he is jittery about playing Kakababu, especially since Prosenjit ��� his one-time contemporary as a commercial hero ��� is also playing the same character in Srijit's film. ���Not at all. I am always confident about what I do. There are 37 Kakababu stories; let many directors direct them. What's the harm? Srijit is a brilliant director and his Mishawr Rawhoshyo was liked by everyone. I'm sure this too will be good. At the same time, I am sure Kobi will have his own take on the character," he added. Though the look has not been decided yet, Kakababu had some signature traits -the crutches, the bushy moustache -and the final look would take all of that into consideration.
While Indranil was not available for comment, we know Anjan Dutt's casting has also been finalized. ���I play Rajkumar, the villain. It's an exciting role. I respect Kobi as a filmmaker," Anjan said. There are reports Rajesh Sharma has also been approached for a role. Let the fight begin!
