What I love about Kolkata is that the city has a character. And I love Bengali food. After checking in at the hotel, the first thing I did was order a Hilsa dish, Parvin Dabas couldnt contain his excitement as he got talking about his recent visit to the city. The actor will be shooting here till March 5 for debutant director Vickram Shankars romantic comedy, 'Jab Tum Kaho'. Commenting on Kolkata being the latest hotspot for Bollywood directors, Parvin said, Im glad the filmmakers are taking notice of the city. As for
Jab Tum Kaho, the story is set in two cities the first half in Delhi and the second half in Kolkata. We are here to shoot the second leg, and will shoot at various interesting places including Prinsep Ghat and Victoria Memorial.
Though the actor seemed tight-lipped about disclosing the storyline, he said, The film has many humorous situations. Even
Khosla Ka Ghosla was a comedy, but there I had a serious role. This is different. For a long time I had been longing to do a romantic comedy. And I liked the script. The character I am playing is called Kumar, who happens to get in touch with a Bengali girl over the phone. He has never seen her, so decides to meet her in Kolkata. Lets call it a happy accident. And the story starts from there. The film also stars Bengali actors like Ambalika Sarkar, Falguni Chatterjee, Sudipa Basu, Anindya Banerjee among others.
However, the actor didnt mind sharing details about his other movies. He said, I have a few films lined up like Ragini MMS 2, and another romantic comedy, Thodi Biwi Thodi Ex (working title).
Parvin, who has worked with noted director Nila Madhab Panda in Jalpari: The Desert Mermaid, will be seen again in the filmmakers first commercial outing, tentatively titled, Love Is Not Mathematics. We have just wrapped up the film in Manali. I hope the audience appreciates our endeavour.
After his directorial debut,
Sahi Dhandhe Galat Bande, Parvin is planning to direct his next. I have finalized the script. But its too early to talk about it. When I am directing, I want to focus completely on it. Acting is tough but direction is tougher since the responsibility lies entirely on your shoulder. My wife, Preeti, helps me, he explained.
