Parambrata Chatterjee and Parno Mittra shot for a marriage sequence for Apur Panchali in Taki It was a hush-hush affair. Parambrata Chatterjee and Parno Mittra got married last Saturday, in Taki. Present at the venue were
Kaushik Ganguly,
Shobha Sen and Ritwik Chakraborty along with a few local residents of Taki. But the old
purohit was upset with the couple as they refused to go in for either the
mala bodol or
sindoor daan. Now, before you die of curiosity, let's give you the actual story. The two actors ' Param (Subir) and Parno (Ashima) ' were shooting a wedding sequence for director Kaushik Ganguly's
Apur Panchali, produced by Shree Venkatesh Films.
When quizzed, the director explained, 'The
purohit was disgusted. He had no idea how a marriage sequence is shot for a film. I had purposely kept a few scenes out like
sindoor daan and
somprodan to keep it short and sweet for the audience. But the
puhohit took great offence. Then Param had to sit with the old man to make him understand it was not real wedding.'
Kaushik is happy with the way the film is shaping up. 'The chemistry between Param and Parno is outstanding. Parno as Ashima, the innocent bride in love with her husband, is perfect for the role. Param too is stealing the show with his looks, body language and of course acting. But the real showstealer is Shobha Sen (wife of late Utpal Dutta). Shobha
di plays Parno's
thakuma and the entire cast is bowled over by her dedication and love for the medium even at this age. Kudos to her!'
