Happy to swap breakfast at hotel with Kolkata kochuri : Onir
Sipping on a piping hot bhnar of chaa on a chilly, winter morning, filmmaker Onir reminisced his college days in Kolkata as CT took him out on a breakfast tour. “Kolkata mornings are beautiful,” he said, adding, “The white fog still hangs over the streets as people, wrapped in warm clothes, make their way to work, while some like me look forward to a quick stop at Maharaj to savour their famous kochuri ar alur torkari.” Even though he takes his first meal at 2pm every day, he finds himself happily sipping on milk tea with sugar in a maatir bhnar when in Kolkata.

“Having travelled the world, I can vouch for the fact that Kolkata street food is one of the cheapest the best, be it kochuri-shobji or singara-hot jalebi,” the I Am director adds, before heading towards the airport.

Sujoy (Ghosh) recommended kochuris at this place. Now my Kolkata visits are incomplete without eating here, and I prefer it over the hotel buffet
As I leave the city, my bags are packed with gurer mishti and I’m already thinking of what all I couldn’t manage this time, so that I can plan better next time
