Nusrat launches a free safe home for COVID patients in Basirhat
On Saturday actress-MP Nusrat Jahan posted on social media that she has launched a free safe home for COVID patients with mild symptoms at the Polytechnic College in Basirhat. It houses a community kitchen as well. “The second wave COVID-19 brought out the humane side of millions of people, who are trying to help each other in these difficult times. Kudos to people who are working on the grounds selflessly in this situation,” said Nusrat, adding, “At present, we have organized about 87 beds with oxygen cylinders, doctors and nurses monitoring round the clock for COVID-affected people.

We plan to increase the number of beds depending on the situation. Hopefully, things will get better. Our community kitchen is serving food to the COVID-affected people and those who are in need. I am coordinating everything from home. We are also preparing for the cyclone Yass and turning institutions to cyclone centres.”
Nusrat, who was with her sister (Nuzhat) during the lockdown last year, is missing her as she is in Canada for her studies. “The situation in Canada is much better, so I am a little less worried about her. We chat over video calls every day. Last year, Nuzhat and I cooked together and watched films during the lockdown. I miss her,” said the actress.
