No strike before Durga Puja
Exhibitors, who threatened to go on a strike if their demands were not met, have put their plans on hold as of now. They have been asking for service tax on ticket sales for long as they started incurring
losses
after the introduction of GST. A meeting was held last month where producers and distributors agreed to the demands of the exhibitors, but later one section of distributors backtracked on the promises. After yesterday’s meeting between all producers,Krishna Daga
, president of Eastern India Motion Pictures Association, informed us over text: “As requested by the hon’ble minister of I&CA, during festivals, all cinema halls would be operating as usual. We can meet the government officials after Puja on our demands.”end of article
