Tathagatha claims that he couldn’t even arrange the premiere since ‘Bhotbhot’ didn’t get any show in the evening and the actor-director is quite rightfully furious. According to reports, the final show count of the film is 22 whereas ‘Byomkesh Hatyamancha’ and ‘Dharmajuddha’ managed 88 and 51 shows respectively. Meanwhile, ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ has 287 shows and ‘Raksha Bandhan’s show count is 281 across Bengal.

The ‘Bhotbhoti’ director has already raised some serious questions on social media regarding the show distribution system and the alleged dirty politics on release days. Bibriti Chatterjee, Rishav Basu and Debleena Dutt who plays pivotal roles in the film also shared the same post by the director.

The film narrates the story of a young man, Bhotbhoti (played by Basu), who lives in a slum near Ganga ghat. He is obsessed with the belief that there's a mermaid in the river and his fantasy turns real when he meets the mermaid Ariel, played by Chatterjee. The film also stars Dipankar Dey, Mamata Shankar, Rajatava Dutta and Anirban Chakabarti.
