Naseeruddin Shah celebrates Satyajit Ray

To mark Satyajit Ray���s birthday on May 2, Naseeruddin Shah will be in town to deliver a lecture on the master filmmaker. The actor will also unveil a book, titled Satyajit Ray���s Ravi Shankar, on the occasion.
Confirming the news, Arup K Dey, CEO of Satyajit Ray Society, said, ���Yes, Naseeruddin Shah will be coming to town to deliver the memorial lecture and unveil the book. Somewhere in the ���50s, Ray wanted to make a film on Ravi Shankar and for that he had sketched a story board ��� just like he did for Pather Panchali.It���s a 32-page drawing book. It has 120 frames where Ray���s instructions on camera and frames is sketched. The book also has two interviews of Ravi Shankar ��� where the musical legend speaks on Ray ��� and two pieces written by Ray on Shankar. We plan to show a docu on Ray after the launch.���
An ecstatic Sandip Ray said, ���We had written to Naseeruddinji, asking if he could inaugurate the book and he readily agreed. Baba wanted to make a film on Ravi Shankar ��� which was then titled Recital by Ravi Shankar ��� but it never took off. The film was based on ragas. I���m happy that it will come out as a book on baba���s birthday.���
