Mainstream “women-oriented” films often show victimized women as vigilantes taking revenge against their antagonists, typically men. Rising from the ashes is often a metaphor in these films where women’s vengeance is portrayed as equivalent to men’s physical strength, anger and masculinity.
However, in
Anil Prem Srivastava’s film ‘Nameplate’ there’s something unique. It shows how an estranged couple reunites after years of suffering.
Produced by Akhilata Films, the social drama sees
Koel Dhar, Siddhartha, Debjani, Achin Moitra, Subir Sarkar, Kajal Chakraborty and
Rana Mukherjee playing pivotal roles.

The story revolves around a village couple Naren and Malabika who get married but a shocking turn of events see Naren’s friend Kalyan convince Malabika elope with him. But, after years of suffering and the harsh reality of life one day Malabika crosses the path of an elderly Naren and they recognize each other and goes to lead life afresh.
The interesting part is, Malabika has always carried the nameplates with her and these nameplates are used like a metaphor in the film.
