The 31st Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF), taking place from November 6 to 13, will put a special spotlight on Poland — this year’s focus country — with a dedicated exhibition celebrating its rich cinematic heritage.
Pradipta Bhattacharyya’s film
Nadharer Bhela (The Slow Man and His Raft), has been selected as the sole Indian entry in the international competition at the Kolkata International Film Festival.
The film competes alongside 14 international movies for the Golden Royal Tiger award. “My love and passion for cinema grew from watching films of diverse genres from around the world at various film festivals. KIFF holds a special place in my heart, and having my film screened there fills me with immense joy. This recognition will also inspire many independent filmmakers to come forward and create more films,” said Pradipta.
Nadharer Bhela starring Ritwick Chakraborty, Aparajita Ghosh and Kasturi Chatterjee revolves around Nadhar, a man who moves very slowly and is seen as different by others, joins a travelling circus — where his unusual condition becomes part of the show.
