Mystery shrouds Kadambari casting
Suman Ghosh, not Aniket Chattopadhyay, is set to adapt Ranjan Bandopadhyays novel on Tagores muse for the celluloid
The mystery surrounding Kadambari Debis death can, well, inspire a celluloid saga. And so it did. But when CT reported that Ranjan Bandopadhyays Kadambari Debir Suicide-Note was set for a celluloid adaptation, little did we know that the film would turn out to be a riddle even before its made.

Aniket Chattopadhyay, who was set to direct the film, has now been replaced by Nobel Chor maker Suman Ghosh, for reasons little known.
The production house, which is set to make the film, confirmed the change. Prateek Sharma from the production unit said, Its true that Aniket was supposed to direct the film. But now, Suman Ghosh will be taking charge.
Aniket had reportedly wanted an actress with no star baggage to play Kadambari Debi. But in a filmi twist, Locket Chatterjee was approached for the role. However, Prateek explains that though Locket is in the running for the role, it all depends on the script. We hope that Locket plays the lead. But Suman is still working on the script and till its complete, nothing can be said about the casting, Prateek shared.
Ranjan too is in favour of casting Locket as Kadambari Debi. The day Kadambari Debis Suicide-Note was launched for the second time, Locket came up to me and said that she wants to play Tagores sister-in-law. The whole process was initiated with her help. I will be very happy if she does play the role. But then, the final decision will be taken by the director and the producers, the author told us.
Ranjan also wants to be closely associated with the film. The novel is very close to my heart. Kadambari Debis relationship with
Rabindranath Tagore and her subsequent decision to take her life, has been of great interest to Bengali readers for a long time. My novel talks about a wronged Kadambari Debi and how Tagore regretted her untimely death till his last day. So, I have to be sure that through the process of filmmaking, the message doesnt get lost. Ive heard that Suman is still writing the script. Though Im in constant touch with the producers, I havent spoken to the director yet, he added.
