Music meets defiance in the title track of Kaalipotka
The makers of the upcoming web series Kaalipotka have unveiled the show’s explosive title track, setting the tone for a narrative that is bold, dark and unapologetically intense. Titled Kaalipotka, the song functions as a powerful sonic extension of the series’ themes, blending evocative music with sharp, striking lyrical expression.
What sets the track apart is its raw authenticity and fearless verses, elevated by acclaimed singer Jojo Mukherjee’s commanding vocals. Adding to its intensity are the rap segments performed by the lead actresses Swastika Mukherjee, Shruti Das, Himika Bose and Sreya Bhattacharya, whose assured delivery reinforces themes of strength, agency and defiance. Together, the vocals and rap subtly challenge entrenched social structures while asserting women’s voices with confidence.
Composed by Kuntal De and written by lyricist Victor Mukherjee, the track fuses haunting melodies with contemporary rap, mirroring the layered and complex inner worlds of the series’ characters. The accompanying visuals feature the principal cast, including Anirban Chakrabarti, capturing the mood and mystique of the show.
Directed by Abhirup Ghosh, Kaalipotka tells the story of four resilient women from marginalised backgrounds. The title track stands not just as an opening theme, but as a bold declaration of the series’ spirit and strength.
