Mohan Agashe has started shooting in Kolkata from Thursday for Marathi film Avwanchhit. We had already reported that
Anupam Roy is scoring music for the film. Directed by newcomer Shubo Basu Nag, who hails from Kolkata, the film also stars Kishor Kadam, Abhay Mahajan, Mrinmayee Godbole, Yogesh Suman, Mrinal Kulkarni and Suhas Joshi. In Avwanchhit, a character called Madhusudhan Gahvane comes to Kolkata with his family from Maharashtra with a dream of living a peaceful life. But things don’t go as per plans. “It is basically a coming-of-age film of young and old Kolkata, young and old relationships, of gratitude and loyalty. These issues are all interwoven in this story. The film also takes us through the emotional roller-coaster ride of a father and son relationship and how they live in the fading tradition while modernity takes over Kolkata,” the director had told us. The script was written in 1989-90, but it took time for the director to make it. Said a source close to the development, “Shooting for the film began in September, but because of rains, it had to be put on hold for a while. Mohan Agashe started shooting on November 7. After that, he attended the 25
th Kolkata International Film Festival
on November 8 and again resumed the shoot.” Meanwhile, Anupam too has started working on the film’s music. “It’s a different experience as the film is in Marathi. But then, I have faced no problem so far. I have started work on the film score. Music knows no language barrier,” he told us.
