Rituparna's director Agnidev Chatterjee claims it is an act of vengeance.
Agnidev Chatterjee, whos stirred up a hornets nest before with his explosive films on real-life situations, has got caught in a fresh controversy with his Hindi directorial debut, Tere Aane Se. Model Karron Malik has moved Tis Hazari Court against Rituparna Senguptas production house, reportedly seeking an injunction on the film and claiming damages.

Rituparna has been cast as the heroine in the film.
Not so long ago, Agnidev had announced a film based on the life of Rakesh Malik, who was convicted of homicide but got a Governors pardon. Back then, the film was tentatively titled The Truth Behind Article 161. Rakeshs son Karron was supposed to play the lead in the film, which was also meant to throw light on Article 161. But the movie was shelved eventually and Agnidev moved on to Tere Aane Se starring Purab Kohli and Rituparna. Said Agnidev, Around three days back, a legal notice was sent to Bhavna Aaj O Kal Rituparnas production house. I really dont know the motive behind such a move as Tere Aane Se is produced by Anushka Films Entertainment. Our new film has nothing to do with The Truth Behind Article 161. Its a triangular love story.
Karron, its heard, is miffed as he feels there are certain similarities between the film and his life story. When CT got in touch with him, the model confirmed that he has indeed moved court and said, Ill not talk about it now. I want a few more days to come out in the open with my grievances. I have full faith in the law.
Though his production house is gearing up to fight the case, Agnidev is unperturbed. While doing research on Rakesh Malik, I found that there were many disparities between his version and what happened in real. Thats why I decided not to go ahead with the film. Karron too came across as extremely temperamental. He could have got 15 lakh had we made the film and cast him in the lead, but now, he has claimed damages worth 1 crore! All that he is doing is out of vengeance. While he thinks our film is a take on his life, theres no similarity whatsoever, said the director.
Rituparna , who was reluctant to talk about the issue, said, Ours is an entirely different movie. It has no connect with Article 161. Agnidevs Teen Kanya, also starring Rituparna, was allegedly based on the Park Street rape case and had faced a lot of heat before its release last year.
