Apart from the Times Food Guide 2014 being unveiled this Wednesday evening, something else, with a much bigger consequence for the future of the City of Joy, was launched. Namely, the CHAAP Party. Mir, the emcee for the evening, opened the event with the promise of his own political party a counterpart of AAP. His version, called CHAAP! Prosenjit Chatterjee and Shoojit Sircar were instrumental in the launch, even honouring Mir with the Chaap cap. Mir explained, "If there's AAP in Delhi, there's always chaap (tension) in Bengal. Bengalis know it very well!" Amidst the roar of laughter, he added that his party was all about "Aam Aadmi and Special Aurat". A deadly combo, he pointed out. And his party symbol? The dustpan! "Kejriwal might sweep away all the dirt with his broom but someone has to collect it," he chuckled.
Though Mir urged every big name present at the event, like Harsh Neotia, Atul Bhalla and Sundeep Bhutoria to fund his party, alas, he could convince none.
