Mimi Chakraborty shares throwback picture of Abir Chatterjee; Reminisces about their ‘Alaap’

Mimi Chakraborty is currently basking in the glory of her new film ‘Alaap’. Directed by Premendu Bikash Chaki, ‘Alaap’ stars Abir Chatterjee and Mimi Chakraborty in lead roles. This is the second film where Mimi and Abir have been cast as a pair, but their friendship, aka ‘Alaap’ is age-old. Mimi recently shared some photos on social media as proof of their era-defining friendship.

Sharing grainy memories with Abir on Instagram, the actress wrote, “Aamder #Alaap anek bochor aage.. FYI: (we didn’t have selfie camera that time..mostly bb shots).” It is evident from those photos that the duo’s friendship goes long back before they paired up on screen.

Abir and Mimi have known each other since their television days. Mimi started her acting career with ‘Gaaner Oparey’. In 2012, Abir and Mimi shared screen space in ‘Bojhena Shey Bojhena’. However, in that film directed by Raj Chakrabarty, Abir and Mimi were paired up with Payel Sarkar and Soham Chakraborty respectively. Although, for Mimi, Abir is like her family. The actress says, "Abir da is like my family. We share a good space with each other. When I didn’t know anybody in the industry, Abir da was there for me. I can discuss anything and everything with Abir da."

Last year in ‘Raktabeej’, directed by Shiboprosad Mukherjee and Nandita Roy, Mimi and Abir were seen opposite each other. Mimi and Abir’s second film as a lead pair ‘Alaap’ released recently. ‘Alaap’, a delightful tale of the complexities of modern relationships, revolves around three protagonists – Pablo Majumdar (Abir Chatterjee), Aditi Mitra (Mimi Chakraborty), and Swatilekha Sen (Swastika Dutta) – who work in different IT companies. Their paths cross in the professional sphere, leading to a series of events that unfold the intricacies of relationships and commitment issues through a heartwarming romantic comedy. So far, the film has been received well by both the critics and the audience.
