The final list of the official entries at the International Film Festival of India is finally out. While everyone is going gaga over the fact that five Bengali films have made it to the list, the absence of Atanu Ghosh's highly praised and award-winning film ‘Mayurakshi’ from that Indian Panorama list has surprised everyone.
‘Mayurakshi’, starring Soumitra Chatterjee and Prosenjit Chatterjee in the lead has been flooded with so many awards including the national award last year.

Prosenjit, whose home production ‘Uronchondi’ grabbed the official selection at the festival said he is feeling proud and happy for the young team of ‘Uronchondi’. But he admits he is quite surprised to see Mayurakshi is absent on the list. Srijit, who also expected ‘Mayurakshi’ to make the cut says that it happened earlier as well with films like ‘Jatiswar’, ‘Chotushkone’, and ‘Nirbashito’ couldn’t make it to the list.
Arguably the best Bengali film in 2017, ‘Mayurakshi’ is all about a father-son relationship affected by long distance and what happens when the son gives a surprise visit to his 84-year-old father who is gradually slipping into dementia. It traces the sense of responsibility towards our ageing parents and even the family values that almost every time gets affected because of troubled circumstances beyond your control.
