Sandhya Roy is making her comeback to the big screen with
Anindya Chatterjee’s Puja release ‘Manojder Adbhut Bari’. The veteran actress plays the Ranima opposite another legend
Soumitra Chatterjee.
Coming back to Bengali cinema is no doubt exciting for the septuagenarian actress but she also admits she would have loved to portray a bigger role. “Anindya is a great director. It was really a pleasure to work with him.
But frankly speaking, since it’s my comeback film, a meatier role would have been more interesting. It’s also true after joining politics I find not enough time. But if there is a good offer I am open to it.”
Interestingly, Soumitra Chatterjee and Sandhya Roy have previously shared screen space in Bengali classics such as ‘Asani Sonket’, ‘Arohan’, ‘Debipokkho’ and others.
‘Manojder Adbhut Bari’ is based on Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay’s popular novel by the same name. Beside these two veteran actors, the cast also includes Soham Moitra, Purab Seal Acharya,
Abir Chatterjee, Rajatava Dutta, Silajit Majumder and others.
The children adventure drama is slated to release on October 12.
