Manas Mukul Pal’s long-awaited project on freedom fighter Dinesh Gupta is finally going to hit the floors in February. Before that, the director and his team ran a test shoot at Baranagar on Monday. “It is to finalise the look and feel of the film. It was a full-on shoot with the actors, including Samiul Alam. I am told that such test shoots are not so common in Tollywood.
That is understandable because pf the cost it incurs. However, it is also very helpful,” said the director.
Besides Samiul, who also played one of the protagonists in Manas’s debut feature Sahaj Pather Goppo, the film features
Mithun Chakraborty. The veteran actor has agreed to work with Manas on this project. He signed on the dotted line earlier this year. According to the director, Mithun will be portraying a very important character. “His character is not a well-known name. There are several unsung heroes in our freedom movement. We found this character after much research. Mithun was thrilled when I read the script to him. The shooting will be done this winter,” the director said.
Elaborating on the shooting schedule, Manas explained that it is going to be a long affair. “We are covering a long period of time. There are three schedules so far. Since the time span is long, we have decided to break it into several seasons. While the February leg is finalised, the other bits will also be confirmed soon,” Manas signed off.
