Manas overwhelmed by support from freedom fighter's family
Manas Mukul Pal is feeling overwhelmed. The young director, who has been working on his dream project, Dinesh Gupta’s biopic, has received tremendous support from the freedom fighter’s family members. “I have spoken to nieces and nephews. The grandchildren of Jyotish Chandra Gupta — Dinesh’s elder brother — were of great help. I have touched and seen Dinesh’s glasses and shawl.

I am really moved. While these historic items might not make any difference to my script, I get goosebumps every time I think that I touched Dinesh’s shawl,” said Manas, who is extremely passionate about the subject.
According to the director, the script of the film was written years ago and talking to the family is helping him fine tune the script. “I met Dinesh’s sister Kamala’s daughter. She was born four years after the death of Dinesh. She grew up listening to the stories of the freedom fighter. These anecdotes are first-hand information. They are priceless,” Manas said.
Meanwhile, the director received help, encouragement and cooperation from various people. “I was offered money from some unexpected people to make the film. One day, soon after one of the articles were published on the film, a random octogenarian called me and insisted on meeting. Initially, I wasn’t sure. But then he called again. When I met, he offered me financial help. He is a freedom movement enthusiast and keeps a track on all the news. He said he trusts me with the film. That was an emotional moment,” the director said.
