Kolkata: Mahesh Bhatt has reacted to the Nandan screening controversy of 'Cosmic Sex'. On Tuesday, Amitabh Chakraborty's film on 'deha tathya' was refused screening at Nandan. Director Prabhat Roy, who was part of the screening committee of Nandan, has refused to show the A-rated film for aesthetic reasons.
When the screening was refused, Chakraborty had said, 'There was a great furore around censorship of 'Udta Punjab'. It's easy to take a stand on freedom of expression when it's far away. This is happening in our own backyard and I am waiting to see how many film-makers here speak out in protest.'
Bhatt, who had spoken out strongly during the recent 'Udta Punjab' censorship controversy, was the first one in Bollywood to react to this issue. Said the director, 'I call this the tyranny of the tastemakers. These self-appointed custodians of culture are fascists who masquerade as artists. It's high time their bluff is called.'
