On Tuesday,
Koneenica Banerjee performed
Saraswati Puja at her home for the first time. “Earlier, Saraswati Puja was a
regular ritual
at my
parent
’s house. But after my sister (Ritwika) and I got married, ma stopped performing puja at home. Though I would think of organizing a puja at home every year, it never happened. Yesterday, for the first time, I organised Saraswati Puja at my in-laws’ place as I felt my daughter Antahkarana would enjoy it. From buying the idol to decorating it, I did it all on my own. I cooked bhog too. I made khichuri, vegetable fries, labra, a curry made with potatoes and cauliflower, chutney and payesh. Antahkarana wore a sari and she was happy to see puja happening at home,” said the actress.
The actress also had a shoot after that. “I am shooting for Promita Bhowmick’s short film, Porichoy, along with
Sudiptaa Chakraborty. After the puja, I went for the shoot. I was back before the aarti in the evening. In fact, my sister who lives in
Australia
attended the puja through a video call,” she said.
In January, Koneenica was in Tirupati for her daughter’s mundan. “I wanted to shave off my daughter's hair at Tirupati, so we went there. From Tirupati, we went to
Mahabalipuram
for a short vacation and my daughter really enjoyed it there,” said the actress.
