Kolkata danseuse invited to Edinburgh Festival Fringe

Paramita Saha, director of a Kolkata and Bangalore based Arts Management organization Artsforward Ideas, has been chosen by The British Council as one of the eight delegates to the Fringe Showcase from across India.

Paramita Saha, director of a Kolkata and Bangalore based Arts Management organization Artsforward Ideas, has been chosen by The British Council as one of the eight delegates to the Fringe Showcase from across India.
The Edinburgh Festival Fringe, one of the largest arts festival in the world, takes place every August in Scotland���s capital city. This year, the three-week festival will take place from August 2.
Paramita, who has 16 years of contemporary dance training and a multitude of performances across the globe and has represented the country in several international and national art event and forums, has already travelled as a delegate to the British Dance Edition 2012 and International Exposure 2012.

���I plan to take some select works from India to the Fringe next year and am hoping that this recce tour will help me gather more information on venues, facilities, the box office and audiences at the Fringe to make an informed choice on the kind of artistic works I could produce,��� said Paramita, who has been curating Sapphire���s international arts biennial INTERFACE for the last six seasons since 2002. For this, she has been bringing in artistes from Japan, USA, Israel, Australia, Ukraine, Switzerland. Singapore and Poland. The festival is now a three city event comprising Kolkata, Delhi and Bangalore. Though dance is her key area of expertise, her recent production, the Black Coffee Relapse project with musician MayookhBhaumik has grabbed headlines. Fashion is another of her favourite areas and she has created concept shows with designer Monapali and KallolDatta respectively. On the anvil are a musical with Tulsidas'Ramcharitmanas as theme, and a dance photography project dedicated to Kolkata among others
