Actor
Kharaj Mukherjee just completed the shooting of Mandip Saha’s film Iskabon. “The film was shot at
Jangalmahal
. I play Sontu Soren, a notorious politician in this film. I love to play negative characters as that enables an actor to show his acting prowess. Love and politics are two important elements in this film. It also shows how a local leader forms his own party and tries to fight for the rights of the people in the area,” said the actor. He added, “I am a character artiste and I always try to do various kinds of roles. I try to balance the characters I get to play on-screen as that gives me satisfaction as an actor too. My mentor, Ramaprasad Banik, taught me what acting is all about and how one should learn to say NO to certain things. So, if I get offers for negative roles at a stretch, I say no to it, as I feel that will give boredom to me.”
The actor will now start shooting for Akash Malakar’s debut film Prothom Barer Prothom Dekha. “It is a rom-com and I play the heroes' father in this film.
Rittika Sen, Arya Dasgupta,
Shantilal Mukherjee, Tulika Basu are also part of this film,” said the actor, who will fly to Mumbai to be a part of an
OTT
project.
Kharaj at present is rehashing for a new stage show, titled
Rangabati
. “Theatre is my passion — rather first love. I am happy that I will be back on stage after a year,” said Kharaj.
