Kankana Chakraborty has made her Hindi feature film debut with
Everybody Loves Shorab Handa, directed by
Rajat Kapoor. In the film, she plays Nazia, a character whose sense of not fitting in closely reflected her own experience on set.
Being the only newcomer in a cast filled with experienced actors, Kankana said she initially felt like the “odd one out.” She found that this emotional state helped her connect with Nazia, who enters an unfamiliar social setting in the story.
Her journey to the film began after working with Rajat Kapoor in the 2019 web series
Shobdo Jobdo. In 2021, Kapoor invited her to audition for the role, and after an improvisation-based audition process, she was selected to play Nazia.
