It's a surreal comedy written and directed by Abir Sengupta that revolves around men-hating feminist author Ria Banerjee (Paayel Sarkar) who thinks men only have bodies, no souls. But the twist in
Jomer Raja Dilo Bor comes when Ria is tricked by her family members into marrying the perfect man, Deb Das (
Abir Chatterjee). Can a perfect husband turn his man-hating wife into a lover? Or will the modern-day feminist turn things upside down? That's what the film is all about," the director told CT.
The lead actors also spoke to us about their roles and the film, and here's what they had to say:
Abir Chatterjee: It's a romantic film with comic elements. The script is fresh and makes sense. The film has many layers and communicates serious things in a simple, funny way. My character, Deb Das, considers men and women to be equal, but unfortunately, he has to go through a lot to prove his point. The film says love is magical, not logical, and the audience, too, will see the magic in Paayel and my pairing in this film.

I play Ria, a hardcore feminist who has authored a book, Thousand Reasons To Hate Men. But her mother and sister join forces to get her married to a really decent guy. That's when the story takes a turn and things go horribly wrong. This is my fourth film with Abir and we share a great chemistry on and off the screen. Moreover, I never felt this is Abir's (Sengupta) debut film, as he was so sorted on the sets.
Jomer Raja Dilo Bor, produced by Promod Films and Anushree Mehta, released on September 4.
