Jiit’s latest is all about honesty vs corruption

Jiit Chakraborty’s film, Swacch Bharat, starring Saswata Chatterjee, Biswanath Basu and others revolves around Abani Sen, who works for the Income Tax Department. Abani is utterly corrupt and heads the nexus of corruption in his department. He has a happy family, comprising his wife, Chhanda, and daughter Mamon. Binay, his colleague from the department, happens to be his best friend.Binay secretly envies Abani, as the whole department, including their top boss Mr Banerjee, depends a lot on him. Abani had a happy and luxurious life, till one day he was offered bribe in front of Mamon. Abani, who’s like a hero in the eyes of her daughter, puts up and honest face and refuses the bribe. “However, this incident was actually a sting operation carried out by a media company. They publish the video, and Abani’s act of honesty becomes an overnight sensation. People from all quarters start praising him. Though unintended, this development moves Abani. Slowly, his philosophies start changing and at one point he starts refusing bribe. What happens to his surroundings after this, is this film all about,” said Biswanath.
