British Academy of Film & Television Arts has joined hands this year with the 12th edition of Tongues On Fire Asian Film Festival that will be hosted in London from March 5 to March 14. And guess what?
Jayabrato Chatterjees Lovesongs: Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow, starring Jaya Bachchan, Om Puri, Mallika Sarabhai and Shahana Chatterjee has been chosen as the opening film for this festival with a gala red carpet premiere.

This year, the Festivals theme is Asian cinema with special focus on womens issues. It has traditionally hosted directors of films like Aparna Sen, Rituparno Ghosh, Nagesh Kukunoor, Mira Nair, Deepa Mehta and Shyam Benegal.
Says director Jayabrato Chatterjee, Lovesongs has a universal theme. Jaya Bachchans seasoned performance and Shahana Chatterjees stunning debut deeply moved the selection committee led by Lady Kishwar Desai. This Festival means a lot for Lovesongs. It opens up my work to an international audience. Weve already fixed meetings with some top names in Asian cinema in Britain. A good film always finds its own niche and market. I am keen to meet Mira Nair who is coming for my premiere, along with Gurinder Chadha, Meera Syal and her husband!
