There are two winners of the Best Actor Female at the recently concluded 5
th Hyderabad Film Festival.
Priyanka Sarkar, who plays multiple roles in Andarkahini was feted with the award along with
Jaya Seal Ghosh for Alifa. Only last year, Deep Choudhury won the
Indira Gandhi Award for Best Debut Film of A Director for Alifa at the National Film Awards. The film — a human saga of poverty and economic imbalance that was shot in three schedules — began in 2015. Happy about the news, Jaya said, “I couldn’t attend the festival because of a few commitments in Kolkata. But I am overwhelmed by this award. I am happy that people took note of my efforts.” Right after the announcement of the award, Bickram Ghosh, percussionist-composer and also Jaya’s husband, took to social media to write: “Proud of jaya for winning best Actor (female) award for Alifa at Hyderabad film festival!”
