Director Nehal Dutta’s next film ‘Jannat’ raises some serious questions about the acceptance of interfaith relationships in society. Starring Subham Imam, Sarmistha Acharjee, Subhasish Mukhopadhyay, Supriyo Dutta, Barun Chakraborty, Premjit Mukherjee and Sujata Mondal in key roles, the slice-of-a-life drama is a tragic tale of romance that also addresses the age-old social taboos.
The plot sees a young lawyer Sudarshan (Subham) returning to his village to start his career.

He is in a relationship with Jannat (Sarmistha Acharjee) for years. However, when Sudarshan returns from Kolkata he is shocked to see that Jannat’s father Kurban Ali has already fixed her marriage with Farhad, a friend of Sudarshan.

While Sudarshan accepts his faith and prepares himself to sacrifice his love while distancing himself from Farhad and Jannat, his friend doesn’t want to give in so easily and is hell-bent on reuniting Jannat and Sudarshan. For that, he is ready to take on society to set an example. To protect the couple he hides them in his tea garden, but soon Jannat and Sudarshan have no other choice but to leave for Kolkata.

The couple, against all odds, dreams of starting a new life but becomes victims of a police conspiracy and soon Sudarshan is on a revenge mission. What happens next forms the crux of the film.
