Rik Chatterjee, ‘Jaba’ narrates the emotional story of a popular writer Soumya and a tribal village girl. The author comes across the tribal beauty Jaba while visiting Purulia and falls for her simplicity but left with a broken heart when he tries to confess his love for the village girl. Jaba was already betrothed to someone else from her tribal community.
Years later the memory of Jaba still hurts Soumya who has become alcoholic to nourish his creative thoughts. A struggling Soumya is quite regular in red light areas now and following a shocking turn of events there only he comes across Jaba once again. Puzzled with so many questions, he finds life has come to a standstill.
The short film stars a group of talented actors like Bhagyashree Das, Indranil Chowdhury, Animesh Bapuli, Arindam Banerjee and Ipsita Bhattacharjee in the lead.
Most of the shooting has been done in and around Asansol and Ayodya Hills. Produced by Cinerio Films, music and background score for this short film is by Sourav Sonali Chowdhury.
