Actress-danseuse
Sreenanda Shankar is currently in Kolkata to brush up her dancing skills under the tutelage of her mother, Tanusree Shankar, and also to attend a wedding. She posted videos of her dance rehearsals on social media and announced that she has decided to dedicate her life to dance. “I know a lot of you want to see me on screen and I love it too. Yet it’s not my world. Unless it is something very special, I will dedicate all my time to my stage performances. Dance is what I have grown up around and that’s where my heart is (sic),” she wrote.
Sreenanda, who has been part of films such as
Ek Je Chhilo Raja
,
Birpurush
,
Ghawre Bairey Aaj
and
Basu Poribar
, to name a few, told us, “I want to dedicate my time to this beautiful dance style created by my grandfather. Though lots of people are doing it, I believe I can bring the correct kind of attention to it, as no one else in my generation of this family is doing it. I don’t want it to be a lost art. And when I dance, I feel at home.”
She went to add that when it comes to films or web shows, she has decided to be very choosy. “I will only accept a film or web series offer if it’s something very special. Till then, dance it is,” said Sreenanda, who will be flying to
Dubai
next month for project-cum-vacation.
