It’s a reunion for Gulzar and KK, all thanks to Srijit’s next film
Srijit Mukherji is super happy to collaborate with not only noted lyricist Gulzar but also playback singer KK for his upcoming film ‘Sherdil’. The film, according to reports, revolves around a real life incident that happened in the Pilibhit Tiger Reserve, where villagers used to leave the elderly people, mostly from their families, for tigers to prey on, because they used to claim compensation from the administration for the deaths. The alarming rate of tiger attacks on these senior people soon creates confusion and makes the forest authorities suspicious about the exact happenings. ‘Sherdil’ has powerhouse actor Pankaj Tripathi essaying the role of a village head, who needs help from the dense cover of the jungle in order to protect his poor family. Taking to Twitter, director Mukherji had earlier shared his excitement about joining hands with his all-time-favourite KK, who has lent his voice for a song penned by Gulzar in ‘Sherdil’. "Finally got to work with a favourite for years - KK!! #Sherdil #SongRecording," the National Award winner, best known for films like ‘Jaatishwar’, ‘Gumnaami’, and ‘Dwitiyo Purush’ among others, penned. Incidentally, KK had started his film playback journey with Gulzar when he sang the famous song 'Chhod Aaye Hum Woh Galiyaan' composed by Vishal Bhardwaj for the 1996 hit "Maachis", also directed by Gulzar. The singer-lyricist pair since then has collaborated for many films including 2001's ‘Aks’, 2002's ‘Filhaal..’ and ‘Saathiya’, and ‘Jhoom Barabar Jhoom’ in 2007, to name a few. ‘Sherdil’ also stars Neeraj Kabi and Sayani Gupta in key roles.
