Ishan Mazumder is keeping really busy these days. The actor just completed shooting for Raajorshree De’s Maya — a dark film based on William Shakespeare’s Macbeth. “I play a don from Uttar Pradesh in the film and the character has a lot of shades,” said the actor.
Ishan has also completed shooting for two Hindi films. “It was a wonderful experience to work with Gourab Dutta in his Hindi directorial debut, Red Orchid.
Mumtaz Sorcar and Rajesh Sharma are also part of the cast. I play a lawyer who tries to crack two murder cases. Gourab was a promo director and the way he has treated the film is something I’ve not seen before,” said Ishan, adding, “I’ve also completed shooting for Salt along with
Rituparna Sengupta and Chandan Roy Sanyal. I play Ritudi’s husband and I’ve learned so much from her. This was my first project with her and I’m amazed to see how she approaches shooting a difficult scene. Even Chandanda taught me a lot about the nitty-gritties about acting.”
Ishan plans to join a Hindi course as he is getting offers for Bollywood films. “I did my graduation and Master's from Bangalore. Then I used to work in Mumbai. So, I had non-Bengali friends with whom I used to converse in Hindi regularly. But for acting in Hindi films, I need to brush up the language,” said the actor.
From Tuesday, Ishan will start shooting for Shieladitya Moulik’s Radio. “I play Priyanka’s (Sarkar) love interest in this film where radio plays an important role,” said Ishan.
